PRESS RELEASE:

BELLWETHER is proud to present ALL AMERICAN curated by Ellen Altfest.

All American is an exhibition of artists who love America. Opening on Independence Day, the show has a simple down home flavor. It is a celebration filled with color, sound and fanfare, from Mick O'Shea's contact-paper floor flag to Adam Cvijanovic's Hudson River wallpaper to Susan Black's distorted American music medley. The work in this show stays very close to the spirit of its cultural sources, with only a blurry line in some instances between transformation and replication. All American playfully challenges the notion that art must be politically critical to be provocative.

All American's artists are:
Yassir Aggour (b. Newark, New Jersey)
Susan Black (b. Bristol, Connecticut)
Adam Cvijanovic (b. Cambridge, Massachusetts)
Brady Dollarhide (b. Stillwater, Oklahoma)
Matt Ducklo (b. Memphis, Tennessee)
Roe Ethridge (b. Miami, Florida)
Jack Featherly (b. Rolla, Missouri)
Barnaby Furnace (b. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)
Jackie Gendel (b. Houston, Texas)
Marina Kappos (b. Los Angeles, California)
Larry Krone (b. St. Louis, Missouri)
Mick O'Shea (b. Nahant, Massachusetts)
A Bar-B-Q, music by Team USA and a fabulous view of the Midtown fireworks over the East River to follow the opening.

BELLWETHER is an artist-run space in support of emerging artists.
